Watermelon (“Citrullus lanatus”) is a fruit that comes from South Africa.
The word “watermelon” comes from the corresponding Turkish karpuz, which comes from the Persian xarbuz (a). In Cyprus, the Arabic name pattiha is also used.
It is one of the most refreshing summer fruits, ideal for consumption in slices or fruit salads.
